Brief info
Fiona Hardie, has been with Coastal Connect Independence as a support professional now for over a year and a half. Her main role is supporting people with increasing their community engagement and helping them build their confidence by getting them out into the community. Fiona also assists people to manage their home environment and their personal care.
Fiona has previously worked in the hospital cleaning industry for over 10 years. During Fiona’s years working in the hospital, she took great reward in volunteering her days off and her lunch breaks to assist in caring for the patients she grew a professional relationship with.
Fiona is currently studying her Certificate III in Disability Support.
In Fiona's spare time she loves walking, swimming, paddle boarding, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. Fiona has 3 grown children. 2 of her children have lived experience on the autism spectrum.
Fiona has lived experience of an autoimmune disease, this enables Fiona to empathise with others who may be experiencing a similar diagnosis. Fiona is happy to say that she is now in remission.
Fiona likes to encourage all water sports with participants due to the ability to increase someone’s mobility and build social connections. Fiona is always looking for new opportunities to support people in this space.
Fiona’s goal and dream in life is to care and support people in need and help make a positive difference in their lives. Fiona can be described as having a happy, positive attitude and loves to see people achieve their goals great or small.
Fiona encourages people to look at the positive and not the negative and always tries to turn a negative situation into the best we can make it.
